At Peachester State School, we believe that students need opportunities to flourish and reach their full potential academically, socially and emotionally. Providing opportunities for students to learn leadership skills and lead key initiatives across the school, which are student driven, are critical skillsets to learn and develop in their senior years of primary schooling. Our student leadership program provides students with opportunities to have input into decisions, voice concerns and make suggestions to improve our school, as well as becoming more aware and part of the wider community.
Leadership is integral to life-long learning. All students should have the opportunity to demonstrate and develop leadership skillsets. Student leadership roles at Peachester State School include School Captains and House Captains. Students who aim to gain a student leadership role need to aspire to demonstrate an understanding and model our school core values in every aspect of school life.
Student Leadership is based on the following expectations that School Captains will:
- Provide an active and supportive role in student management
- Provide a role model for all students
- Represent the school on required occasions
- Assist other students to be the best they can
- Obtain a B or higher on their behaviour report
- Not have been suspended in the past 6 months
Leadership Positions at our School
Student leaders at Peachester State School represent our learning community, and should demonstrate that they embrace and model all of our school community values of being a Safe, Respecful Learner. As public positions, often student leaders are called upon for official/special occasions.
At Peachester State School, we do not believe that a leadership position should be given based on gender. Therefore, positions will be earned on the merit process.
