Common Name: Camphor Laurel

Scientific Name: Cinnamomum camphora

Indigenous Use/Other
Sadly, 40% of all trees in this little  section are the declared weed, Camphor Laurel. (Restricted invasive plant under the Biosecurity Act 2014). It was introduced into Australia in 1822 from Japan, Taiwan or China.  It has aggressively replaced natural trees.  The Camphor Laurels in this part of our forest walk gives a typical example of what this weed species is quietly doing to our native forest.

We have removed many of these weeds and would appreciate any help the community might like to offer in getting all Camphor Laurels out of our school.
